Parasympathetic Balance
Hugs are balancing the nervous system. The skin includes a network of small, egg-shaped pressure centres called Pacinian corpuscles that can feel the touch and are in contact with the brain through the vagus nerve. The galvanic skin reaction of those getting and giving a hug indicates a difference in the conductivity of the skin. The effect on the skin’s moisture and energy indicates a more controlled state of the nervous system – parasympathetic.
